The South Side is a black ghetto on the south riverfront of Monkeytown. The neighborhood is plagued by rampant crime and poverty, and the population is overwhelmingly black. The neighborhood has a reputation of a slum to the rest of the city, due to its abandoned buildings and roaming gangs. The South Side is bounded by the Samu River to the south, Capuchin Boulevard to the northwest, and Park Street to the northeast. Monisha Brown lives in the South Side. Most of the southwest-northeast streets in the South Side are named after slummy things, such as Thug Street, Dope Street, and Bling Street.
